- Blake is in his third year of graduate studies in physics at Yale University. He insists that Phyllis batted her eyelashes at him on the Weeks Bridge at Harvard six years ago. Blake likes Renaissance music and anything that tastes like a pumpkin. He has never cared for walks on the beach since being burnt to a crisp while visiting Seaside, Florida, as a child.

- Phyllis is finishing her second of three years at the Yale Law School. She demurrs from Blake's claim of eyelash-batting and asserts a defense of gusty winds on the Charles. Phyllis enjoys finding her way through foreign lands and hanging out in the mists of antiquity. She likes orchids but has a propensity for killing them.
